Ansaldo Energia’s New
Naming System
Model designations will help create an independant and recognizable brand.
In 2004 Ansaldo Energia made the
strategic decision to not renew its
licensing agreement with Siemens and
started developing its own products
based on its own internal research and
development.
Since then, the company has experienced a sharp increase in R&D investments from US$7.45 million to approximately US$74.5 million in the
period from 2004 to 2008.
In 2008, the company established a
center of excellence in Genoa, Italy, and
assigned to it the responsibility for the
entire product development process,
from planning to implementation of
projects, right through to the industrial
production and commercial release.
This evolution is testified by the
growing number of new products and
developments, covering the full range
of power stations: emission-reducing
devices, new diagnostic tools, exten-
sion of average plant life cycle, im-
provement of gas and steam turbine
performance, and service activities per-
formed on machinery manufactured by
third parties.
