CHP Orders Spur
Growth at ENER-G
A reported surge in worldwide
demand for combined heat and power
(CHP) and biogas generator units has
prompted sustainable power company
ENER-G to open an additional factory
to keep pace with orders.
It has opened a plant in Salford,
Greater Manchester, England, to enable it to increase production by 50%.
Last year it opened a second factory in
Salford and has now tripled its original
manufacturing space to 3159 m2 by
converting an adjacent building.
According to ENER-G, which was
one of the earlier businesses to pioneer
CHP technologies 25 years ago and
which now has 701 employees worldwide, major hospitals are increasingly
turning to CHP systems to reduce costs
and carbon emissions, as well as to free
up resources for patient care.
One hospital to do so is Birmingham
Heartlands Hospital in England, where
ENER-G claimed a low carbon trigen-
eration energy center is achieving “ex-
ceptional” environmental performance
and cost savings. The Heart of England
NHS Foundation Trust has implement-
ed a US$8 million energy efficiency
program that has reduced its primary
energy consumption by 21%, carbon
dioxide emissions by 42% and utility
spend by 24%.
